“God didn’t just call you to speak His Word—He trusted you enough to carry His presence.”
There is something deeply powerful in what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:17 when he spoke about being entrusted with the sacred responsibility of preaching the Good News. Paul understood that sharing the Gospel was not just a task—it was a sacred trust given by God Himself.
Before the world was ever created, God spoke the Word. That Word has been carried throughout generations, and the beautiful truth is this: the Word is God Himself.
This immediately brings us back to what John declared in John 1:1:
“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
So when God entrusts us to preach the Good News, He is not merely asking us to repeat words. He is entrusting us to carry His presence, His truth, and His heart to the world.
The Lord is reminding us how sacred His Word truly is. We do not need impressive speeches, perfect knowledge, or persuasive abilities to convince people that God is real. That is not what God asks of us. Instead, He calls us to live lives that carefully and faithfully carry His presence and truth.
This is why throughout Scripture, God continually reminds us that we are called, chosen, and appointed. He tells us to be holy because He is holy. He has set us apart from the world for a reason.
How can we carry the presence of God while living carelessly? How can we represent Him if we refuse to consecrate ourselves through repentance and surrender? How can we carry His truth if we constantly allow the world to shape our hearts more than His Word?
Paul continues this reminder in 1 Corinthians 9:24–27, encouraging believers to run the race with purpose and discipline. We cannot fully walk in our calling if distractions consume our time, steal our peace, weaken our joy, and slowly pull our hearts away from God.
It is possible to preach the Word outwardly while inwardly drifting away from the sacred trust God has given us. Paul warns us that without discipline and wholehearted devotion, we risk becoming disqualified in the end.
Following Christ and preaching the Good News should inspire us to know Him more deeply. It should move us to study His Word, strengthen our relationship with Him, and remain close to His heart every single day.
Always remember: God has given you this sacred trust.
